CVPR 2017 WORKSHOP ON AUTONOMOUS DRIVING CHALLENGE

Autonomous driving is quickly becoming one of computer vision’s most promising applications, with a huge market for commercialization and a huge demand for better algorithms. This workshop will gather top researchers and engineers from academia and industry to discuss the biggest challenges in computer vision-based autonomous driving. Firstly, TuSimple is hosting a world-first benchmark dataset competition to evaluate the present progress and encourage breakthroughs in the field. Second, a series of speakers from both academia and industry players will give discussions on various aspects of autonomous driving and computer vision, including hardware, software, industry, ecosystems, and supply. Finally, the day will conclude with an evening dinner party to unwind, socialize, and further discuss TuSimple’s important developments in the field.

VISION BASED AUTONOMOUS DRIVING CHALLENGE

The vision based autonomous driving challenge consists of two tasks for computer vision researchers: lane detection -- detecting painted markings on the road that delineate each driving lane; and velocity estimation -- estimating relative velocity and distance of other vehicles in view.
